Privacy Policy

WebBall is a browser tool that runs locally on your Mac. There is no account system, and we do not upload your browsing data to our servers.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This policy explains what data WebBall handles, where it is stored, and which optional features send data to third parties.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the macOS app WebBall (listed on the App Store as WebBall Browser, referred to below as “the App”) and to the website wtool.app.

This policy does not apply to third-party websites or web apps you open inside the App. Those sites have their own privacy policies; we do not control their data practices and are not responsible for them.

2. What we do not collect

  • The App has no account system. There is no sign-up or sign-in, and we never ask for your phone number, email address, or any identity information.
  • We do not upload, store, or inspect your browsing history, cookies, bookmarks, form entries, passwords, or downloaded files.
  • The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.

3. Data stored on your device

The App uses Apple’s SwiftData framework to keep data on your own Mac:

  • The web apps you added, your floating ball configuration, and cached site icons.
  • Browser profiles: each profile uses its own isolated website data store, so cookies, caches, and sign-in states never mix.
  • Download records, keyboard shortcuts, preferences, and browser window position and layout.
  • AI provider settings (endpoint, model, enabled state) stored locally; API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain.

None of this data leaves your device. Uninstalling the App, or clearing its data in System Settings, removes it.

4. Features that use the network

The features below communicate with third parties when you use them. If you do not use a feature, no data is sent for it.

FeatureWhat is sentRecipient
BrowsingAs with any browser, sites you visit receive your IP address, User-Agent, and other standard request information. The websites you visit
One-click page translationThe page text that needs translating is sent to a translation service.Google Translate, Microsoft Translator
AI chat assistantThe messages you type, plus any page content you choose to attach, are sent to an AI provider. The provider you configure yourself, such as OpenAI, OpenRouter, Anthropic, or your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint
Site iconsRequests to an icon service so that site icons can be displayed.DuckDuckGo icon service, Google icon service
DownloadsFiles are downloaded directly from their source server. The file host
In-app purchasesTransactions and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment card details.Apple

Translation and AI chat are optional and only make a request when you explicitly trigger them. If you would rather not send page content to a third party, simply leave these features unused.

5. Third-party privacy policies

The services listed above are operated independently and handle data under their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them:

  • Google Privacy Policy
  • Microsoft Privacy Statement
  • Apple Privacy Policy
  • DuckDuckGo Privacy Policy

6. No profiling

We do not measure your browsing behaviour, build user profiles, or serve behaviour-based advertising. The App has no built-in analytics or reporting channel.

7. Your control over your data

  • Not using translation or AI chat avoids the corresponding data transfers.
  • Deleting a profile clears all website data and sign-in state for that profile.
  • Removing an AI provider in Settings also deletes its API key from the Keychain.
  • Uninstalling the App removes that local data.

8. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Because a browser can reach any website, the App is rated 17+ on the App Store.

9. Data retention

We operate no servers that store your personal data, so there is no retention period on our side. Your data stays on your device until you delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App means you accept the revised policy.
